[Bug] [Crucial] Ps brush size/hardness unusable
PlannedI have set up brush size and hardness to dials. On Palette it used to update size and hardness on screen real time while rotating a dial. Now it won't update until you stop rotating. Pretty much useless if you can't see the size you're at and don't know when to stop rotating (especially when overlay value popup is gone).
Not only that, but you also can't set the size or hardness while preset picker is open - sliders in that window do not update and as soon as you start painting, brush just resets.
So there's actually no way to know what hardness you have until you start painting...
As I said - useless. Defeats the purpose of having it on dials, when you still have to adjust sliders manually to know exactly where you're at.

Anything on this? For now I'm going back to Palette, hoping this will be fixed at most in a week, because it's the most used feature, I assume. If not, no matter how much it would hurt, I'll strongly consider of returning MCC and asking for a refund ;( It's really a big money (Master Console) for a main feature not working :(

I see exactly what you mean.
Here's the background: The cursor display in Photoshop not refreshing is, unfortunately, a Photoshop bug. We've put in a bug report with the Adobe PS team (logged under PS-59443, and a related 3rd party report under PS-52674) but so far there hasn't been any movement on it. We would be more than happy to fix this, however the fix is dependent on the Photoshop UI and, for now, completely out of our hands.
Understanding how bothersome this, there IS a workaround that improves performance massively. Please try assigning the square bracket keys to a dial—left square bracket for left turn, right square bracket for right turn. For whatever reason, the keyboard shortcuts trigger both the brush size change AND the UI refresh, while the scripting-level function triggers ONLY the brush size change, while the UI lags behind.
This works for brush hardness too—just use shift+square bracket.
Finally: you mention this worked better in the past with Palette. This is absolutely correct, however it's due to a regression in Photoshop rather than a change between our two products. If you have a chance, please try installing an earlier Photoshop version (if I recall, it was CC 2017 or 2018 that had better performance) and you should find it works more smoothly with your Creative Console AND your Palette gear.

OK, that makes sense, although I'm not familiar with Ps SDK.
Shortcuts work much better, but even though size now has almost instant response, hardness still lags (but I guess it's again Ps issue)So I understand, if something doesn't work, it's better to try keyboard shortcuts, right?
Anyway, there's still no way to see the value where brush is at. PLEASE give back the floating value popup (or however it's called on Palette)

Yeah generally speaking we prefer to use a direct software integration as it (usually) has a number of advantages over controlling with keyboard shortcuts. However, given this performance issue with the brush cursor controls, you're definitely better off to fall back to shortcuts.
Will share your feedback in regards to the live values. I know this was removed to alleviate a technical or performance consideration, but don't have the details handy—will make sure it gets resurfaced and reconsidered accordingly :)

Nope, sorry...
Just tried to go through a full workflow and it's impossible to use without swearing. After changing the brush size and moving away from dial (even putting everything down) you can still observe the size going crazy - bigger and smaller - for like 5 seconds
I just have to go back to Palette
Please try to figure out how to fix this :/ -
Just tried one more thing
Checked if keyboard shortcuts behave correctly when directly pressed on a keyboard and it seems they don't - brush is going nuts. Disconnected MCC completely (unplugged the cable) and it worked - shortcuts started working as expected. Connected MCC back - shortcuts still work. It was enough to touch a brush size dial and again both MMC and keyboard became unusable.

I think I figured what is happening here..
One of the three dial modules is faulty - two of the three dials on a module gets stuck. And of course I managed to set size and hardness on these exact faulty dialsSo... While turning normally you wouldn't notice anything at all, but turning while pressed at some point dial gets stuck and in that position even just pressing sometimes becomes impossible until you turn dial just a tiny bit to any direction. Just assigned same keyboard shortcuts to another module dials and the difference is huge. It lags a bit, but doesn't go crazy
