We've seen something similar happen when system-cleaning utilities get a bit overzealous and clear the file savestate.json from PaletteApp's temporary files. Same goes for if you restored from backup, a system restore point, etc.

My money would be on something like this happening, as the module firmware is designed to prevent any major problems from unintended connections.

If you use CCleaner or a similar app to clean up garbage files, make exceptions for these directories:

     ~/Library/Application Support/Palette (macOS)

    C:\Users\USER_NAME\AppData\Local\Palette and C:\Users\USER_NAME\AppData\Local\PaletteApp 2 (Windows)

I'm thinking now if this could happen when some metal was attracted to one of the modules by magnet and shortcuted the contacts :/

I only used default Windows 10 cleanup dialog for recycle bin and temporary files. AFAIK it doesn't clean anything in AppData\Local except for Temp folder. And if it did delete this json file, wouldn't my profiles be lost or at least reverted to some previous saved state? After looking a bit more closely, I noticed, that "Switch Profile" button module got unassigned and all modules (incl. this ex-profile-switching-button, BUT excluding the sliders - all sliders are in their right places) just switched places (only buttons and knobs). It wouldn't have been a big issue (but still an issue) if this was already in place - https://palette.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360002743832 ;)

BTW, this modules switching places issue happened once before for me, but PC restart or even a Palette App restart (really can't remember now) helped and all went back to normal. This time nothing helped.
