[Improvement Suggestion] Behavior of Flow, Strength and Exposure [Slider/Photoshop]
Hello, I have searched extensively on the site and with google for some information pertaining to this and haven't found anything so I am posting this inquiry.
My use for Palette Gear is as a digital painter, in photoshop, to augment what is possible with a drawing tablet.
I have a Slider in a given Photoshop layout for Basic Brush -> Flow. Using the Brush tool, this behaves as expected. When switching to the Blur or Sharpen tool, this slider begins to control the STRENGTH. This is very intuitive and a welcome behavior. When Switching to the Sponge Tool, the same slider starts controlling the flow of saturation OR desaturation respectively, again this behavior makes sense and is welcome.
However if one tries to use the Dodge/Burn tool, then the slider does NOT control the equivalent EXPOSURE value. Likewise if one tries to use the Smudge tool, the slider will not control the returning STRENGTH value. This is very inconsistent and un-intuitive.
I humbly suggest that Basic Brush -> Flow be made consistent on all instances of Flow, Strength and Exposure. I feel that this suggestion is reasonable given that Brush, Blur/Sharpen/Smudge, Dodge/Burn/Sponge share all of their relevant brush controls except this one (Size, Hardness, etc). Therefore it would be ideal if they could share a profile as well.
You guys are doing great work and are very appreciated ! I hope this post is found useful !
Thank you !

Hi Kaeru, thank you for this suggestion. I agree that having contextual links between similar controls in different tools is a worthwhile improvement, especially in PS.
Not sure if I can confidently call this a planned change yet, but I'll make sure that this is shared with our team!
