Monogram… Power User Update?
I’ve used Monogram creator app a lot in the last year. I love it, but…
While customer support is very good, threads on this board have rarely been answered.
Nonetheless, here's what I’d like to see for a ‘power user’ update.
- Make the app scriptable: For example, a URL scheme that switches to a profile of the same name, like monogram://Colour. Example use: a macro that opens your colour editing screen set and colour profile at the same time.
- Make editing monogram creator quick: Add keyboard shortcuts for ‘done’, ‘cancel’, ‘clear’, ‘copy’, and allow swapping assignments by drag and drop. Example: see the macros here
- Expand module functionality: Let the orbiter trigger keys like a D-Pad, let faders trigger keys when they pass certain values, let buttons trigger URLs (that could then trigger more complex scripting apps). Allow a key to work as a modifier for others.
- Allow mouse scripting: Let Orbiter click and drag to move controls that can only be controlled this way. Example: nOb control which works great for audio plugins.
- Unhide hidden features: Either document these, or put them in the Creator app. Examples: In Manual mode you can have a button that changes profile on press+hold, or click a mouse with a dial, or change the macro delay time, or scroll with a modifier key held. Let the user choose if this is useful.
- Remove the profile limit
- Switch to M1 Native: Monogram is now the last Intel app running on my Mac. Hopefully this could go some way to fixing the memory usage when Creator is open or ‘Show profile’ is used, which gets close to 2GB
