If you are using Monogram Creator Legacy (v4.1) or Palette App with Adobe applications, you may encounter the following (or similar) error message:
To fix this problem, please complete the following:
Windows:
Uninstalling Palette App/Monogram Creator Legacy
Back up any “Monogram Creator Legacy” profiles you wish to keep. You will lose your profiles if they are not backed up to another location.
*Please note: Palette App profiles are not compatible with Monogram Creator Legacy and will need to be recreated.
- Ensure Palette App and Monogram Creator are no longer running and you have quit both applications.
- Open File explorer and select the top filepath bar. Enter \Program Files (x86)\Palette 2\PaletteApp
- Run the maintenancetool, and use it to remove all components.
- Then delete the entire "Palette 2" folder.
- Open File explorer and select the top filepath bar. Enter \Program Files (x86)\Monogram Creator Legacy
- Run the maintenancetool, and use it to remove all components.
- Then delete the entire "Monogram Creator Legacy" folder.
- Open File explorer and select the top filepath bar. Then enter %localappdata%\Monogram\and delete this folder.
- Open File explorer and select the top filepath bar. Then enter %localappdata%\Palette\and delete this folder.
- Next Open Registry Editor by pressing Windows key + R on your keyboard then type in regedit.
- Open HKEY_CURRENT_USER, then SOFTWARE. Find and delete the Monogram and Palette folder.
- Restart your computer
Reinstalling Monogram Creator Legacy and Replacing Extension Folder
- Go to https://monogramcc.com/download/palette/ and download Creator Legacy by selecting the “Windows” download.
- Once installed, open Monogram Creator Legacy.
- Create a profile for the Adobe Application you would like to use Creator with (ie. Photoshop, Premiere etc.)
- If you were previously using Monogram Creator Legacy, and backed up your profiles as previously instructed, you can load your existing desired Adobe profile instead of creating a new one.
- Leave Monogram Creator Legacy open and running with your newly created/loaded profile.
- Download the "MonogramExtension.zip" file attached below.
- Once downloaded, double click to open the zip file and you should see a folder titled "MonogramExtension"
- Go to Windows Explorer/File Explorer
- Select the top filepath bar, and paste in the following path: %commonprogramfiles(x86)%\Adobe\CEP\extensions
- Delete the folder titled "MonogramExtension" (Also delete "PaletteExtension" if you were previously using Palette App)
- Lastly, drag and drop the new "MonogramExtension" folder from your zip file to replace the deleted folder.
- Open your desired Adobe App
Once this is complete, you should have no problem using your Palette Gear with Creator Legacy and your desired Adobe application.
**Do NOT exit/close your profiles within Creator Legacy. If you do this, you may encounter the “Extension Error” pop up message again and you will need to redo the above steps.
You can leave your profiles open at all times, and simply close and/or quit the Creator Legacy application. If at any point the “Extension Error” message appears again, just complete steps 7-12.
macOS:

- In finder, go to /YOUR_USER_NAME/Applications/Palette 2/
- Run the maintenancetool, and use it to remove all components.
- Then delete the entire "Palette 2" folder.
- In finder, go to /Applications/Monogram Creator Legacy/
- Run the maintenancetool, and use it to remove all components.
- Then delete the entire "Monogram Creator Legacy" folder.
- Go to Finder, press Shift+Command+G, then go to ~/Library/Application Support/Monogram/ and delete all of its contents.
- Go to Finder, press Shift+Command+G, then go to ~/Library/Application Support/Palette/ and delete all of its contents.
- Go to ~/Library/Preferences/ to find and delete any instances of Monogram and Palette plists such as; com.monogramcc.Creator.plist and com.palettegear.PaletteAppV2.plist
- Restart your computer
