Current Monogram + Apple Silicon Support
At present, Monogram Creator is complied for x86 systems (i.e. Intel Mac and Intel/AMD Windows PC) and runs on Apple Silicon machines via Apple’s Rosetta 2 compatibility layer.
We have tested Creator on M1-equipped Macs and are confident to promise the same standard of performance as one would expect with Creator running natively on a comparable x86 system.
The apps that benefit most from native Apple Silicon support are those that make heavy use of system resources, specifically CPU and GPU. Monogram Creator does not make heavy demands of either processor. Therefore, Creator’s most crucial features—the user interface for assigning modules, and the integration between software and hardware—should be nearly identical in performance whether Creator runs on Rosetta 2 or is compiled for Apple Silicon.
With that in mind, let's look at the compatibility with a few specific applications:
App-Specific Compatibility
Lightroom Classic
- All present versions of Lightroom Classic (from 10.x and later) are fully functional with Monogram on Apple Silicon machines.
- The Monogram + Lightroom Classic integration is built on APIs which are not negatively affected by a shift from x86 to Apple Silicon.
- We expect ongoing compatibility and will continue to test and develop as new versions are released.
Photoshop
- All present versions of Photoshop (from 22.3 and later) are compatible with Monogram while running natively on Apple Silicon. Please use the new Photoshop UXP plugin; setup details available here.
- Photoshop (Legacy) plugin is not available for customers using Apple Silicon machines
Premiere Pro and Audition
- All present x86-native versions of Premiere Pro and Audition (ie Premiere Pro 15.3 & earlier and Audition 14.1 & earlier) are fully functional with Monogram while running via Rosetta 2 on Apple Silicon machines.
- Premiere Pro 15.4 and Audition 14.2 introduced native Apple Silicon support. The latest Monogram Creator supports native Apple Silicon for Premiere Pro.
After Effects, InDesign, Illustrator
- All present versions of the above apps are fully functional with Monogram on Apple Silicon machines.
- Adobe’s InDesign and Illustrator teams have not shared plans for any breaking changes that would affect Monogram—we can presume ongoing compatibility but do not have confirmation from the Ai and Id developers.
- We will continue to test as new versions are released.
Capture One
- All present versions of Capture One are fully functional with Monogram on Apple Silicon machines.
- The Monogram + Capture One integration is built on APIs which are not negatively affected by a shift from x86 to Apple Silicon.
- We expect ongoing compatibility and will continue to test and develop as new versions are released.
